A two man limit being twenty rats, means a bigger crockpot, or a Nesco cooker. Either way, I like it.

Last year, I sat on the crest of a hill that overlooked a bunch of shagbarks above a creekbank. I don't know how many rats came into that grove, but it was a helluva lot more than the six I shot. Even with the leaves still on, and shooting a .22, it was over pretty quick. I would have welcomed four more.

A few from the longer range shots fell in the grass along the creek. When I went to pick 'em up, I found the biggest patch of chanterelles that I've ever seen. I smiled all the way to the truck.
