Busch was fun

Post by Limbshot » October 25th, 2013, 11:06 am

I can see myself applying out there each year. Had a blast and saw a lot of deer/turkeys. Wish I had a little more time to scout and try to find some antlered deer, but time just didn't allow for that. Hunted Tuesday evening and all day Wednesday. My buddy and I had decided that it was bucks only Tuesday and Wednesday until noon, after that, with time running short, it was herd management time!!! Saw three does Tuesday evening, including a big doe and little one at 15 yards. Let them walk. Wednesday morning, the weather was perfect and didnt see a deer one. At noon, I moved my stand just 60 yards to my north/northwest based on movement observations. Had a group of 8 big gobblers coming right at me and then they all headed east, never getting closer than 50 yards. Had a button buck come in to 30 yards, but didn't want to shoot him. Then had a huge doe and little one come in and ended up whacking the doe at 10 yards. Hit her perfectly and she went 50 yards and piled up. If I had left my stand, they would have likely made it to my stand, but likely very close to dark. So the stand move paid off. My buddy had deer on him at the same time. Actually saw decent 110ish buck that he couldnt get any closer than 50 yards. So not a bad hunt. 2 guys, 4 tags, 6 stand sits, and 3 deer dead. I think we did our part. thumb2:

Thanks RB. Now I'm heading down to the family farm for the weekend. Hoping to get a couple peeps their first ever archery deer.

Congrats on the doe. I need to stick one instead of letting them walk by. I need to make some breakfast sausage. In 3 morning sits I have seen 31 deer.

Dang Mike, sounds like your new place is covered up with deer. You are in a good area and will do well this year.
