Test Drive

Post by Limbshot » October 27th, 2015, 1:51 pm

Well to say things have been crazy lately would be an understatement. I was finally able to get out a few times this past weekend. I hunted Saturday evening with the misses and we had some entertainment as a young 6 pointer got into a group of three does and was dogging them all over the place, grunting and carrying on. Sunday morning I went back out by myself and had more of the same. I was able to get a shot on a nice doe with the new Xcentric 7 this time, and it didn't turn out too well for the doe. The Slick Trick Magnums did a number on her and she piled up after 45 yards. Best blood trail I'd seen from a fixed blade head. Double sided and just a constant stream out of the entrance and exit. Anyway, getting a few good bucks on cam at both farms I hunt, but they are all still mostly nocturnal pics. We are gearing up for youth season this weekend and then will be back at it with the bows! Anybody else out there? I wish I could have hunted in this nasty weather today. I'll be interested to see what the camera shows me for today.

Oh I believe it is nearly time to hunt. I'll get out there for the first time this week. Hopefully Thursday morning. But, the old lady is gone. So, that means I'll have to find someone to take the girls to school.

Damn kids ruin everything! Definitely won't be long. Would really like a serious cold front the first full weekend of November if possible.

Looks like a good cool down in the making the second week of November. It's the same every year. Moon, weather, etc..., is always questionable. But, the deer will be on their feet. I'm sure I will see a buck or 30.
Congrats on the doe.

That's the plan RB! Have pics of a few decent bucks on that property, but I'm really hoping to get some time in down at the family farm...
