I've been catching crappie at the Jackson Co. lakes lately. Brought in 55+ over the weekend, none over 13", but have caught a bunch in the 10-11.5" range. Hitting minnows on a red or chartruse jig head, 2-3' deep near brush, within 15' of the bank. Females are not quite ready yet, but getting aweful close.
I also happened to catch a walleye at Jacomo Sat. evening. It was the first time I've caught one, it was small, under 12" and was released, but I didn't know there was walleye in that lake.

Re: Crappie
Good report dave-t.
I am continuing my streak at MTL this pass weekend.
Never claimed to be the best fisherman. Just need to work on my techniques, because I saw plently of fish on the finder. Just not a lot of stacked up crappies. So guessing they were either bream, bass, catfish or carp. As they were the ones breaking and slapping the water.

Re: Crappie
Sounds like carp, it's their breeding season too.
The Doctor said I should drink more whiskey. Also, I'm calling myself 'The Doctor' now.
