Re: Fall mushroom
Micus, I have seen a bunch of them in my neck of the woods, but I haven't picked any but one to spore print.
I read they don't have much flavor but real nice texture. Do you have any good recipes for using purple-gilled laccaria?

I caint find any recipes for purple-gilled laccaria. Google search brings up this site and one of the other Missouri sites, but no recipes listed

When all else fails, fry 'em.

Re: Fall mushroom
Purple-gilled Laccaria does not fry well. I dry them and use them in soups, stews and pasta dishes. They require more cooking than a lot of mushrooms.

Re: Fall mushroom
For lunch I brought some young honey caps to a simmer, let sit a few minutes, poured off the first water, added some young fresh laccaria caps plus some onion and package of spice from beef ramen noodles, simmered for about 20 minutes, added noodles, simmered for 3 minutes, let set for 5 minutes and ate from pan. Tasty!
