Big Crappie in MO Conservationist Magazine
Did anyone see the picture towards the front of this month's MO Conservationist magazine? Mary Kramer of Columbia caught 5 huge crappie from 17 to 19 inches, with the largest around 4.5 pounds!
They were all caught from a public pond/lake in northern MO (location undisclosed). I would post the pic but they copy-protected the online article.

I would have had to get a couple of those mounted. Very impressive fish, I'd say once in a lifetime, but more like 5 in one afternoon of your life time, which doesn't sound nearly as impressive.

I think that picture might have been in the Missouri Game and Fish Magazine.

Re: Big Crappie in MO Conservationist Magazine
One thing I noticed in the MO Conservationist caption, is that they said it was caught during the summer. I didn't know if it was a typo or a picture from last year.
Hard to believe they didn't come from a private farm pond, but I guess they could have come from a little-fished MDC pond.

The fish were caught last year. This is CCGC archived news from late last summer. Glad to finally see that it surfaced.

Re: Big Crappie in MO Conservationist Magazine
Since this post, someone caught what is presumably the world record black crappie from a mid-Mo farm pond. I saw the pic of that one and it doesn't seem near as big as the ones pictured here, even with the differences in camera angles and such.

The ones pictured are 17"+, the new record was 21". I can't hardly wrap my head around that, and I've seen the pic.
