mtl 7-29

Post by Bruce Carpenter » July 31st, 2006, 2:15 am

took two men from Germany fishing for crappie. One had never fished before, the other on his second day of fishing. Due to heat we quit at 10:00 AM and had 37 keepers, from 9-12 inchers. First time in a while I had caught some 12 inchers there. All were suspended down 10-12 feet, caught tightlining using a jig and minnow. Had about one keeper to one non-keeper ratio, but we moved if we started catching non-keepers. fished in water 20-30 feet deep. orange and yellow slab hunters were best. But wait I think I have another bite! Image

Good job Bruce, we had similar results on Saturday but most were 8 1/2 to 9 on red & chart jigs.

I wish you bastages would put about 500 filets in a box on dry ice and ship them to Columbia.

I wish you would send me 500 Michelobs in a box and send them to Monroe City. Why don't you drag your whiny donkey over here Saturday morning and we'll go and catch some?

Fishin: I would do just that ifn' I had the time. I'm heading south this weekend to see the family. Then it is back north to do lord knows what. I haven't even purchased a fishing license this year. I'm not even sure I will for this deal on the 19th unless it becomes an issue with the number of jugs or noodles these guys plan to throw into the water. Make no mistake, I'll take you up on your offer. But, you'll have to settle for cheap beer.

PS, just send beer then and I will send fillets. Send good beer or I am sending some of Keith's carp fillets.

Bruce,

I fish out of a black and silver Astro with a 200 Merc. I don't fish down your way too often. You fishing this weekend?

fishin: would like to, but finishing up with county fair activities! I normally fish in a black alumaweld with a yahama. I think my fishing area has been producing better fish than your old haunts. You might want to try it this weekend. did ok on saturday. but lots of conservation agents, two of them in a 16 foot track style boat. friendly enough but were busy writing lots of notes. see you on the water.

Yeah, I think you guys have better fish down your way. Unfortunately, I end up doing work around the house and didn't get to fish this weekend. Good luck with the fair.
