Reds

Post by Outdoorsfool » March 30th, 2007, 11:59 am

A small batch of reds was found Wednesday afternoon by my son's babysitter. She found 8 or 10 tennis ball sized 'shrooms. I don't do reds, but it's only a matter of time before the good ones are poppin'! Image Image

I was teaching a wilderness survival class yesterday for Women in the OutDoors. One of the ladies came back from a trip into the brush with no birds nest to start a fire with, but did have a small handfull of morels.--paddle

My dad found a few small greys yesterday along the creek branches... south facing slopes. I hear a cooler snap will come later in the week. I guess it will put a damper on things.

I found some morels in Barton County after the turkey hunt yesterday. About 8 of them. Some appeared to be a little old.

Found one small red about the size of a golf ball. No morels and only 2 keeper crappie but we did bring home 11 12+" bass. Not a bad day just not as good as I expected.

I looked this weekend in my early spots in Bates County and didn't find any. I heard from co-workers that people have been finding good bunches in SE MO, but you know how that is.
