Bull Shoals Walleye

Post by Tablerock » June 18th, 2007, 5:15 pm

Bullitt and I won the Bull Shoals Walleye tournament Saturday. We brought in a tournament limit (5) that weighed 17 pounds plus change. We also snared the big fish award.
We had a real good day. lol .... Image

Awesome- that's a great weight average this time of year. What part of the lake and how deep were you fishing?

Triton, when I finally got Bullitt out of the hammack he did pretty good... Image
Tourney was out of Peel and we were fishing downstream several miles. We tried a little of everything in our day and a half of pre-fishing. Finally went with trolling cranks at about 23 to 28 feet. We had our 5 in the box by 9:45 a.m. and never caught another walleye. There were other competitors that didn't catch a walleye until 11:00 a.m.... (2nd place team). Go figger....
By da way, Bullitt is the best tournament partner I've ever teamed up with. Image

TR, did you get to Big Creek area? I was down that way about a month ago and man the water was CLEAR. You could see about 20+ feet deep on the main lake.

We got into Big Creek a little ways during pre-fish. We went flying past Big Creek tourney day. Yep, the water is real clear at the Bull right now. There was alot of floating junk from the big rains but no stained water we could find. We went as far as Point 13 up the Theodosia arm.
Still no stained water so we settled on an area farther then Big Creek but not so far as Theodosia. Some guys we know that were in the tournament had a limit in the livewell from up Big Creek somewhere and their big motor wouldn't start to come in to weigh. Tough break. I think they had second place bagged.

I am the worlds worst when it comes to point markers, but is point 13 near Pontiac? I was in that area a month ago fishing a bass tournament. Caught some fish along the bluffs with a redfin and a jig, but man the water was so clear. I had caught 6 keepers the day before on a grub in less than 6 feet of water, imagine that.

Yep, Point 13 is right there by Pontiac. You can usually find water with a little more color up that way but it didn't work out that way this time. Maybe if we'd gone on up we could have found some color. It's a long ride from Peel to Pontiac. We decided it would be a waste of time to run all that way. I REAL glad we decided that ! Image

Man, a guy turns his back for a little bit and gets all kinds of abuse! I may be a load, but I can back a trailer and know where the beer is. Image
Triton, you dog, what's been going on? Are you catching any big ol gooduns?
The tourney was a hoot. Really hot and we had to drink WATER. Fish do bad things in water. That's why you put whiskey in it....for purification purposes. I REALLY like Bull Shoals. No boats.

Bullitt, long time no hear. Wondered where the heck you had gotten off to. No I am not catching anything as my boat is in for repairs. Should have it back soon though so I can drop shot and jerk a spoon. Image
Congrats on the tournament too.

Thanks Triton. Sorry to hear that your ride is down. I would be on pins and needles just waiting to go on a dropshot trip! Image
Looks like they've dropped the water out of the bushes. thank god I don't have to go throw a spinnerbait in there any more. Image
