you talk about insane, the fight had to last for quite a while! my 9ft 5wt. fly rod was bent over and dippin in the water for most of the fight. what it was is that my friends dad brush-hoged around the ponds edge, and at dusk, the fish were coming up and sucking all the bugs falling in the water. I just so happened to catch a peek at one with its nose out of the water, gorging itself, and pitched my foam spider right in front of him. he took and all i could do was hold on for the ride. the other was the same story different page.
