g-loomis

I was thinking of upgrading to g-loomis for my next rod. Are they worth the extra dough ?

No. If you don't go to Wal-Mart and spend $18 on a Zebco combo, you wasted your money.

2B, it probably depends on how much you fish and can you justify the expense....They are great rods, but I would suggest if you want to get a Loomis have someone buy the blanks and construct themselves....I had a friend down here make me one and it was about 60 -70 dollars less than if you went into BPS and bought it.....I do love my gloomis rods, but it took me about 25 years to break down and spend that kind of moola....

2B, you may try Allstar or St. Croix they both make some superior rods for the $'s.

I agree fishin. I have two st.croix rods and really like them. I have a couple buddies that say they wouldn't fish with any other rod than gloomis. They swear by them. However and ofcourse, they are knuckleheads and that's a whole other story.

2B,

You shouldn't be calling Gutpile & MoBuck knuckleheads.

I don't think you would be disappointed by any means they are great rods and big $'s. You can get their blanks in custom rods for 1/2 the $'s.

What series Loomis are you looking at?

Like I said I have a friend of mine that ties all of my rods up....If you could tell me what exact number of rod you want I can check with him and see what it would cost....Like Fishin said it could save you about 60 or 70 dollars on a Loomis, or even a St. Croix.

I tell you this. I bought my first St. Croix just this year. I have always fished with Wal Mart specials. It is really unbelievable. I can't imagine what having a G-Loomis in my hand would be like. I already plan to buy a new St. Croix with a new baitcaster next year.
