Crappie at LOZ

Post by Gutpile » April 13th, 2005, 2:35 pm

Heading down thursday and fishing through the weekend. Weather is supposed to make a turn for the better this weekend. Wondering if anyone had been down recently.

Went last Friday in Coffman area, only caught 20. Went Saturday, put in at PB2 about noon, two adults, two kids, we caught 10 until about 6pm, then fished a cove with no docks. In the next hour we took in 45 11-12 inch females, all relatively close to the bank. Used jigs, tube color didn't seem to matter. Also had my jig hammered by a carp that probably went 10lbs, wow, what a fight that was.
Rumour was that Purvis was the place to be last week though.
Happy to be here.

well we fished hard all weekend. Had six guys, we cleaned 264 fish between thursday and saturday. We only turned back a handful, the rest we are all plenty big, most werent even close to being 9 inches.

The fish were spotty, sometimes pretty concentrated on brush piles. Had to fish really slow and pretty deep.

We had to keep eating them and give a few a away to stay under the possession limit. My dad caught a monser buffalo, fought it for 20 minutes on a microlight rig. I estimate the weight at 35-40 lbs.

we caught two limits in less than 40 minutes, 10-12 inchers all but three were males, on the bank. Wait a minute, I think I have another bite!

Gut, yours was impressive as well, but ours came easy, fished one dock then just catch and release as we scouted some other areas.

Yeah but if you look at ours six guys over 3.5 days of fishing. Nothing came that fast and easy.
