Predator's

Post by Warmouth » February 27th, 2006, 10:32 am

I hear that you need a 10g slug to kill a bobcat. I think it would be a good minimum.

Here's the trophies from this weekend's predator hunt.

Oh, and STFU BJ.

Yeah Rafe! Don`t you know it takes much more skill to get within 500 yards of your prey, and shoot it with a rifle? Image

Stick to your reloading/shooting BJ, and leave the actual hunting to the rest of us. Image

But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

How much skill do you think it takes to get within 15 yards of a huge bobcat? Now, how much skill do you think it takes to get that close and have him in the pouncing position, and not chit in your pants?

170 I think you are mixing up the difference between skill and just plan dumb. Rafe do you notify your next of kin before going to do this?

I really didn't look at it as risking my life. Except that I was out there with Warmouth. That was dangerous enough, I suppose.

Ok how big do these Bobcats get? They are mountian lions yes? We have none here but I make it a rule not to get close enough to anything that looks at me like I'm dinner where I could be dinner.

He is a more typical looking b-cat. I would consider this to be about as big as they get. 35lbs or more would be a giant.

It is typical, for all of the wild cats, to hunt and kill game that is up to 6 times their weight. It is much more common for b-cats to take birds and rabbit sized game. There have been documented cases where bobcats have killed deer.

Wow, ok 15 yds for the bobcat don't sound bad now, they aren't that large. Now I guess why buckshot and not .22 then?
