Possum

Post by Warmouth » May 11th, 2006, 4:05 am

I shot a big boar possum last night that was trailing a hen turkey. That sucker was big and nasty. Half of his tail was gone, almost hairless on his back end, and big old head with worn down teeth. I think I did him a favor sending him to possum heaven.

Funny you should mention this, Dave. Monday morning, Ranger was rasin' helll. I looked outside & there was a possum in the back yard, outside our chain link fence. I was just gonna let it go, but the next time I looked out there, the possum was inside the fence with Ranger. No one else in the house was awake yet, but I went into the gun safe & got a .22 and stuck a bullet in its ear. Mrs. Hollister politely requested that I not cook it, even though it was a fat, young one. I told her that oneshot says they're pretty fair grazin', but she didn't care what he had to say.

I told LA about it, and she wanted to look it over (since I described it's grossness), so I went back out and searched the foliage for the dead possum that I just threw in there. She agreed, it was big and nasty.

It was gross, no argument here. I'm not sure Oneshot would have even considered eating that mangy thing.

Yeah, he would've. Those mangy ones just have less hair to have to scald off.

Very perceptive of you, Dave. My buddy Dickie raised two female possums. They were here to get a pedicure. Image He talked my wife into trimmin' their claws.

They were actually pretty cool. They were friendly, and didn't stink a bit.

Dickie used to put 'em on his shoulders, and give 'em mini-bike rides around his neighborhood. Image

He had 'em for almost four years, and recently had to have 'em put down due to old age.

Normaly I'd be with you 2b, but that one looks tame and taken care of. I wonder what kind of odd behavior/temperment it had though. Coons eventually go ape chit if you keep them.
