Noodlefest - fishing update 8/13-14

Post by fish » August 14th, 2006, 8:59 am

Played hookie(pun intended) from work today to go back out on the river and drift noodles. Between yesterday an today's fishing we have a good start on the fish. Yesterday a 6lb and a three other blues in the 2lb range went into the pot. Today three 2lb blues an another eater are destined for the cooker. Lost a much bigger blue that pulled off when we went to net him. 8-10 lbs ??? Fishing was best early, mid day kinda sucks. We were fishing the dogs about 2 foot deep under the noodles(go figger but it works)Dogs were soaked in REAL vanilla and lots of soy sauce(salt???)or you can soak them in anise oil. No, not anus oil Snowy, its Anise like in licorice !!! Image

We will be out early AM Saturday and see what we can come up with. One 20lb fish will work Image

Ya know, I was lookin round to get some ideas for jugs... I'm thinkin I'm jus gonna use some old decoys i gots layin round as jugs. I reckon I could easily come up wif bout 2-3 dozen of them thangs that I wouldn't care if I lost. Plus, they'd be better scenery than watchin them orange and green noodles float down the river... get the blood pumpin.

Fish is scared of a lot of things these days. He's old & toothless.

I haven't fished the river in 2 years. But, the last time I did we were up near that point of where the Lamine meets the river. We caught enough channel cat in 4 hours to feed this crazy bunch. Sonnys and bait-casters did the trick. Get with the program Fish. I know you are trying to catch that 60 pounder, but we have bellys to feed. I plan to do some serious night-fishing.

Dayum, J.D. ! You actually gonna start fishin before the middle of the day ? Image

That's a good thing. Image The middle of the day is for sittin' in the shade with a cold beer. I may even throw out a mid-day tightline, and hope I don't get a bite. Image

I'm bringing my 8 year old son, and I don't want him corrupted either. Just be prepared...he'll outfish all of us.
