Crappie
Anyone cathing any?
LA and I caught a few this week, but with all of this rain, they're not stacking up like they usually do. At least not where we've been fishing.

Re: Crappie
I caught a bunch last weekend on a tributary to Truman where I know they stack up. It was in flowing water and not the lake proper.
This should be the right time for them on the lake (water temp and moon phase) but the fronts blowing through have them screwed up not unlike the past couple of years.

Re: Crappie
Last weekend the water was muddy, even for Truman. We tried pounding the banks for 40 minutes or so, and gave up, not one fish caught.

WM, a buddy of mine hit them real good on the banks in the Tally Bend area last weekend....maybe you are just a mediocre fisherman.

Wait a friggin minute Rainbow... our fishin spots were not producing. There is not a huge skill factor when spawn fishing... they are there or not. They weren't. This weekend would be good, but Dave is working and I'm not packing the babe down those cove banks alone.
Anything you can do, I can do better.

Geez LA chill and take a midol or something. They are on the banks at Truman and as we all know a moron can catch them.

Did that sound harsh? It wasn't intended to. I was meaning expert fisherman get skunked. Even me.

Now wait a minute, they weren't on the banks at all locations at Truman last weekend. I know at several locations that they were in 10'-12' of water and at others still in 6' to 8' of water. The upper arms of Truman are almost always ahead of the main lake arms. Truman is a big lake and fishing is not the same around the whole thing.
You seem to know a lot about Truman for an Eastsider

Re: Crappie
Fortunately, I cannot afford the gas to get to Truman at this point and there are no fish at Mark Twain so I will just work some more.

TH, I fish Truman whenever I can. You are right about location makes the difference on that lake especially with temperature in the spring. We do most of our spring fishing on the upper end and the lower end in the summer pattern.
