Kentucky Lake

Post by Triton X2 » October 20th, 2008, 9:13 am

Just thought I would crow a little from the ABA weekend series this past weekend at Kentucky Lake. We had a regional there with about 120 boats and I got lucky and took 3rd and qualified to fish the nationals at lake norman in North Carolina in about 3 weeks. I havent decided whether or not to go.

That`s awesome Triton. How many pounds does it take to win a tourney down there, this time of year? I`ve always wanted to fish there. A few guys I work with go there, and they have nothing but good things to say about it.
One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who did not whine, nag, or bitch.
But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

It was a 2 day tournament and it only took 21 lbs to win. I had 17.88 The weights were really off as there has been a ton of tournaments down there over the past 3 or 4 weeks, so the fish were really tight lipped. If I had a time to pick it would be during the spawn or right after that when they go out onto the ledges or humps. I guess they flat cow kill em during that time. A 5 fish limit may weigh as much as 25 lbs or so.

It sure is a long wide pond and when the wind blows....it can be treacherous...Luckily, it didnt blow all that hard while we were down there.

Kentucky and Barkley are a couple of beautiful bodies of water. Been on Kentucky very little, but I caughy my first bass over 6 pounds out of Barkley. THose lakes have really changed over the past decade. NEver used th be able to catch a smallmouth down there, and now they are everywhere. Definitely a couple of great bodies of water. My uncle has a cabin on Barkley and has spent a ton of time on both lakes. Can be an absolute blast when the white bass are running the humps. Not uncommon to land a white on one treble and a largemouth on the other with lipless crankbaits.

Congrats Triton, nicely done. A good friend of mine from LOZ fishes for Triton boats.

Congrats Triton! I know what you mean about a windy lake- used to go out there a lot when I was working in Paducah.

Yeah he is a really good fisherman up on LOZ. I have donated some money to him up there.

Yeah he is tough. That fool works at it though. He sinks more brush than they did when they actually flooded that dang lake!!! He's not to shabby on Truman or Pomme either. I'd fish with him any day. Pretty good guy too. Known him for a lot of years, heck, I honestly got him into tournament fishing, he just went a lot farther with it then I did!!!

From what I hear, not too many brush piles are located too far from PB2....Maybe we could make some sort of deal, huh?

You can try. That is not entirely accurate either, but that is fisherman for you.
