Find out who truly is your role model....

Do you have one. If so, tell us about it. Who is allowed in it and what goes on in there.

Find out who truly is your role model....

Post by TobyfromMO » September 3rd, 2009, 8:01 am

FIRST, DO THE SIMPLE MATH BELOW, THENSCROLL DOWN TO FIND YOUR HERO.

It's CRAZY how accurate this is!

1) Pick your favorite number between 1 - 8.

2) Multiply by 3

3) Add 3

4) Then again multiply by 3 (I'll wait while you get the calculator)

5) You'll get a 2 digit number.....

6) Add the digits together

With that number, see who your ROLE MODEL is from the list below:

Now Scroll down.................

I could have told you the answer without doing all that math. Looking at that list though, there isn`t a whole helluva lot to choose from.
One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who did not whine, nag, or bitch.
But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

I know that, but I can`t be my own role model. Or can I? I think I`ll just give that a try instead.

Not so much working out as of late. I still run every now and then. I'm currently playing Ice Hockey which about 3 days worth of workouts wrapped up into to one session. Also one of my son's hockey coaches...so I'm also skating about 3-4 times per week.

Why? You wanting some action photos to arrange into a calendar or something?

BTW...with your hunt being around the corner how your workouts going for you...i.e. those daily walks to the mailbox?

Good to know I rank so high on your mental list. :mpeeper:

Don't know which is worse...the fact that I rattled off that list from memory or the fact that list contains the entire attending population of this worthless website.

Hockey is a ridiculous workout, I agree. What times do you get on the ice? They book that stuff 24hrs a day.

I asked because I have been running/walking/etc. I ran three miles Tuesday, felt great Wed morning, did some lifting and stretching Wed. Thurs I was locked up tighter than a drum so only stretched and walked. I reckon pretty soon I should start lugging some weight when I hit the road.

Even I've been working out a little. Walking/jogging a couple miles, crunches at bedtime and against my better judgement, I'll admit to doing some aerobic cardio to a DVD in the living room. I never have been really overweight and I don't ever want to be. Don't know how much weight I've lost, but I had to go down 1 notch on the belt last month. thumb2:

My ice time is on Mondays from 10:00pm to 11:30pm. My son’s team being so young...they get prime time ice. Through the week ranging from 5-7pm and on weekends ranging from 10-12pm.

With your lifting...until you stretch those tendons & ligaments you’re going to feel “locked down”. Be it that you’re feeling this tells me you’re doing exercises that are mostly focused on singular muscle groups rather than multiple. For what you’re doing you should be focusing on more of a full body workout…less of a body building method. Exercises that work multiple muscle group rather than singular focus, i.e. squats, dead lifts, lunges, pull downs, rowing, pull ups, push ups sit ups and upper body rotational motions.

Regarding your running…about the same thing. For what you’re training for long distance runs may not help you much. Depending on the pace you carry and/or your current level cardiovascular condition…during a long run you tend to find a pace that allows you to maintain. The idea here is your can actually fall below an aerobic pace and all you’re doing is burning fat…no cardio gains and certainly no muscle gains. A simple thing to look for…if you can talk rather normally while your running you need to pick it up. You should not be able to speak without repeated stoppages for breathing. For this you should be doing intervals. Shorts bursts of speed, working up to full then down again, followed by aerobic and/or walking recoveries. Some of the most intense interval workouts I’ve ever done are less than 20-25 min in duration.

Rafe...you should try the P90X videos. I think there is about 9-10 videos in the set. You make it through even one of those videos without stopping or cheating and you'll be the ODM's resident "Billy Bad Ass".

Rafe, I thhink it was leg lifts and crunches that got me. Both hips were tight yesterday, a lot more so than the day after the run.

Great tips Toby. thumb2:
I've never been in bad shape (my opinion, worth about :nutz: ) and have always been a very high metabolism type of guy. I always had to work to gain weight in my teens and early 20's. Purely genetic, my dad who is 5'11" 175lbs and hasn't worked out since I've known him, and we both eat the worst chit ever mass produced. Still, I've been in the mountains before at 9-10k elevation, and it is no joke. Picturing myself with an 80+lb pack in those conditions, with miles to travel scares the bejeebers out of me. I am working to gain some strength/endurance in my mid section with the crunches and twists, as my legs haven't given me any aches or problems to this point.

Back to ice time.
I reserved/scheduled Kirkwood's ice when I was working over there. There is no down time. We had rental times for leagues going on 1-5am through the week, and hardly ever had an open time slot. Hockey guys are dedicated mofo's.

I just got the P90X set this week. Looking forward to trying it. The sets I've been doing feel more like dance rehearsal. Even so, it's good stuff. I've severely laid off the soda and that's bound to help, too.
