Anybody else fish?

Damn boys, am I the only guy that fishes around here anymore? We went out on the Gasconade and had another great float this past weekend. Still no monsters, but did land a couple of 17 inchers and a gang of 13-15 inchers. The misses also caught a 12 inch crappie, which was a bonus. I'd say he has been turned into a healthy turd by now.

Hey , Limbshot - what part of the Gasconade do you normally float? Have you ever fished NORTH of 44 - up around Vienna? Whenever I drive from Columbia to Rolla, I drive over the Gasconade just south of Vienna, and it always looks awesome. And I very rarely see anyone on it. I have always wanted to fish there - just never have. I think there may be one canoe rental place in the area, but I am always curious why I never see people there, and there are not more canoe places. From the bridge, the river looks absolutely beautiful...

LS, I have not been out as much this summer as I would like but going to fish Truman this weekend for a couple days. Load up on a winter supply of slabs for the freezer. Did catch a ton last month on MTL trolling crank baits. I would still like to float the gasconade with you sometime but summer is getting over too quick. Jim, I have fished that stretch of the gasconade years ago and also the Maries out of Vienna. Used to hammer the big goggle eye and smallies with big minnows we seined from the river.

I have never personally fished that section of the river. I agree it looks amazing, and we probably should sometime. We typically hit the river a ways upstream from that. It is hard for us to travel all the way over to Vienna when we have some great fishing so close to home down there. Heck, we often wade fish it from our landing at the farm. Plus we rarely see anybody on the section we float either. We always talk abotu doing other floats on the Gasconade, but always end up going back to old faithful. Just hard to beat!

It would be nice to do a float together sometime RB, but my free weekends are running our very fast!!! You never know though, it could happen!
