Agree, don't know if it is true but most of the March deer I have seen with antlers have been small ones, forkies or little basket racks. I can say as I have seen a mature buck with horns that late. PS what do you think, you deal with shit on a molecular level.

I think it is a bunch of bullchit although it makes a bit of sense from a drop in testosterone.

I've seen half racks that had shed as early as December 7. The latest I have seen a full rack on a deer was April 16. I also recall damn near being ran over by a beast of a buck in velvet while turkey hunting long about May 1. That deer was already showing a bit of tine growth on well-developed main beams. Who the hell really knows?

PS, it is prolly all over the map in terms of results like most of nature. I don't know that you can all bullchit on nature. Prolly depends on a lot of different factors.

RB: I agree. Truth is, James Kroll probably did a study out of SFASU on some high-fenced ranch down in the hill country of Texas. He probably published the results in some obscure journal that no one has heard about ever. May have even presented the work at that huge whitetails conference that is held in the SE US every year. His posse and every other outdoor enthusiast on the Outdoor Channel take him as God's Holy Word with respect to whitetails. There could not be a bigger tool than Dr. James Kroll in my opinion. He is trying to sell a product no matter what it is. I'd rather listen to SAMCRO talk about food plots and he has probably never planted one. SAMCRO kills deer too albeit most of them are probably by the light of the moon.

Oh, and SAMCRO, I agree. When I saw that picture earlier I was thinking he looks really good.

There is another guy from down here that is a deer biologist. Heard him speak at a deal at church about his "deer farm". I was not impressed....Said down here there was not a 160 class deer unless they had access to food plots....Every year there are some of that class deer killed....I shut everything out when he said that...He is a well known biologist, but I cant remember his name. I have heard him on a number of wildlife shows...Help a brother out

If you've not arrowed a deer with fresh powder on the ground and a full moon overhead, you're just another one of those rulebook types, who hasn't really lived the full predator lifestyle. Your anscestors wouldn't have let a perfect night like that go to waste, and there's no real reason you should, either.

SAMCRO that is not him. He is referring to the fellow who has bought tons of land down in Taney County, MO. He is literally growing big deer down there. Clearing the rocks and timber and putting in food plots. Can't recall his name right off the top of my head. Grant Woods maybe?

Yeah, it is Woods. I get those two idiots confused. Doesn't matter, Triton is still a dipchit.

There are several of those clowns on tv. Biologist my azz. They may have the degree in it but they are pure salesmen for a sponsor. you can do just as well with natural planting for plots as you can with expensive buck forage, tecomate or any of the high priced plot seeds.

It`s not.
One day, long, long ago, there lived a woman who did not whine, nag, or bitch.
But it was a long time ago, and it was just that one day.

I will go as far to say this... even the smallest foodplot will attract deer. You would not believe the little quarter acre plot of ladino on the HFA and the number of deer that would hone in on it. I saw 21 off that stand 3 days prior to the season ending. At one time, there were 11 standing in it. I just knew I would be picked off as that stand is pretty open. Also, if ladino is green, they prefer it to winter wheat in late season. My ladino was green even into mid-January this year. My big plot at the house was dead as hell due to the drought.

If Grant Woods had any sence at all he wouldn't have bought land for a deer farm in southern chittown MO. The north rules as far as buck size. Look at buck size in Iowa, and look at Arkansas....what idiotic biologist is picking Arkansas? Grant Woods, that's who. There was an article about him in Rual Missouri and I wanted to cancell my subscription after reading it.
