My new toy!

Post by Limbshot » May 15th, 2015, 8:38 am

Well I have finally replaced my Bear Motive that was stolen last year with a new arrow launcher. After shooting multiple bows from multiple companies, I decided to go with the Xpedition Archery Xcentric 7. This bow blows me away. 33" ATA, 7 " brace and rated at 344 IBO. The draw cycle on it is ridiculously smooth, has a perfect valley, and has the most solid back wall I have ever seen on a bow. The draw stop pegs actually rest against the limbs, not the cables, so there is zero sponginess at full draw. If you are looking into a new bow, I highly recommend you at least shoot an Xpedition before you make your final decision!!! I'll be adding an orange QAD HDX, HHA Kingpin Sight and the Hi-Tek stabilizer that you see on the front of the bow!

Snake is an idiot.

I hadn't heard of those bows before you bought that one. I like it. Binary cams, too.

I finally shot it the other day. Bow blows me away. Super smooth, good speed and absolutely dead in the hand. I think it's gonna be a killer. A small deer killer, but a killer none the less. :)

So you wrote your review before you'd shot it?

I wrote my review before I shot the one I own, yes, but I shot the Xcentric 6 and Xcentric 7 along with many other bows at local shops before I bought mine. I had shot the model, just not the one I own. I had also drawn mine back to a few times before I actually loosed an arrow.

Is there any reason those draw stops are in a different position on the bottom cam versus the top? I know very little about these things mind you. But, on my GT500, they are in identical positions.

They did it that way for exact timing and level nock travel. They micro shim the cams for maximum performance.

I see. I like mine the way it is as Crackers has them all the way against the stop. Simple enough for my simple mind. In that way, if I need to take the bow to someone else to put a twist in the string, I know where the timing marks are without thinking about it. But, ifn' I need a twist in the string, I just send it back to him for new strings and cables anyway. I swear I will never get rid of that GT500. It truly is the finest bow I have ever owned. It still looks like brand new although I have derailed it twice.

I do like the looks of your and the Cro's new bows though.

Yeah, I'd pretty much trust anything that Crackers has done. I shot the Xpedition next to the Elite Synergy, and I honestly thought the Xpedition was smoother and felt better, but like anything else, it's all about personal preference. They sold a lot of the GT 500's and there was obviously a reason for that.

Snake derailed that bow TWICE? :rotflmao: I, for the life of me, can't understand how that happens to people.

Snake, it's time you looked around. Elites are fine bows, but now there are options that have the smooth draw and stability that you probably like about the Elite, that also have speed.

CRO, the first time that it happened, it was a "watch this" moment. I was demonstrating to a friend the effective 80+% let-off by holding the bow at full draw with both arms out in front of me. As I was letting it down, I guess I had the string twisted or something of that nature and it derailed. I should have let the bow down normal like. The second time was an all out dry-fire. I forgot to nock an arrow one late December morning. Only time in my life that I can ever recall not doing so the first thing once on stand. Anyway, up walks a coyote. I drew, shot, and wham! I couldn't understand what had happened at first. Then, I counted 5 arrows in my quiver. Best thing is, the strings and cables were not damaged on either occasion. I cannot say the same for the cams and the draw stops.

I just like the way my bow shoots CRO. It is easy to tune with a WB and shoots like a dream. I don't recall what the IBO is, but I believe I am getting about 310fps out of it with my set-up. That is plenty fast for me.
