I guarantee you aren't getting 310 out of your setup.

Then Mike is a liar. 382g arrow at 72 pounds of draw weight. I'm just going on his word. I should have the note that he sent me the last time he put a new string on it. Maybe it is 309 now. But, when the bow was new, it was 310.

Now, maybe it had an IBO of 310 and the actual was 306. But, it is something like that. I seem to remember it went down by 1fps on my second set of strings and cables.

IBO is 324. Actual speed is 310.

Do you just enjoy hacking at your credibility? The GT500, with the cams that I suspect you have, do not IBO at 324. It's in the 330's.

I'm giving you the numbers Mike gave me. You can believe it if you like. It IBOs at 324 and he got 310 out of it with my set-up. This was with the brand new bow.

You know I would not make this chit up. I know nothing about any of this stuff. I'm not a speed freak. Hell, I don't give one rats-ass about it.

The cams I had were the Rev cams I think. I had to replace them twice, and this is what comes to memory. I'll look it up though.

Mine is the Rev cam and the IBO is 331-335. If I remember correctly, in the early years, there were a lot of folks on AT complaining about Elite not making IBO. But, again, I am going from memory. The actual IBO for my bow was 324 according to Mike shooting it with his arrow. With my arrow, I got 310fps.

He may have done so. However, you need to know if that's the IBO speed you have there, or the hunting weight arrow speed you have. Even then, you must be capable of both processing and capturing the information correctly, if you're going to throw numbers around among people who know things.

The IBO was with his arrow. The actual speed was with my arrow I thought. Maybe that was with his arrow. But, I was nearly certain he told me that it was with my arrow.

Another question for the CRO: How much would a reduction of 2lbs of draw weight change your overall speed? Say going from 72 to 70? Because, I can't find the slip that he sent me when he put my second set of strings and cables on. But, for some reason I want to say it was shooting 306. Again, just going from memory. I got the 324 and 310 when I purchased the bow and was shooting 72lbs.

It depends entirely on the cam system, and it's rating. In the case of your bow, a reduction of 2 lbs would not change the speed at all, assuming you also reduced arrow weight to match ( 5 grains/lb). If you're talking about speed reduction related to a 2-lb decrease and the same arrow, it would again depend on the IBO.

A general rule of thumb is a loss of 15-20 fps for every 10 pounds. So, you can do the math, although the Rev cam system is fairly efficient, which should put it on the low end of that spread.

If you added a different set of strings and cables, even from the same maker, you need to know if the specs are exactly the same as the previous set before you can arrive at any conclusion. If the material is different, the lengths are different, the string count is different, or the serving different, any of these would either add or subtract weight, thereby influencing the final speed.

He'll reply in about 6 months, Dave. Hope the suspense doesn't kill you in the meantime. :)
