FEEEESH

Post by Limbshot » March 26th, 2018, 3:17 pm

Last week was an absolute blast! To start with, I went with a buddy to LOZ chasing slabs on Thursday. Started a little slow although the quality was good, then ended the day on a hot spot and we both limited out. The pic of me holding two shows one of our bigger ones and one of our average fish. The next day I hit a little local lake by the house and caught a few good bluegills, a nice crappie and some little bass. Then Saturday I went back to the same little lake targeting bass and laid into a couple of good ones. Pretty cool for a lake that a lot of people swear hardly has any fish in it, much less big ones. I caught 20 bass, with these two as my highlights. Unfortunately, I lost another big one like the one pictured as I was trying to get it up on the bank.

I was needing to get out of the house!!! I don't usually target crappie until the spawn, but our freezer was literally void of fish and we can't have that!!! :)

RB, up until the last week or so I would have told you to stay in the main lake for snagging as everything was really low, but the recent heavy rains just south of KC have started to change that.

Gary, we'll mostly snag on LOZ out of Warsaw. We might run over to Roscoe or Taberville if the area is producing. Right now LOZ is doing pretty good up to about the 70mm.

I'm struggling right now. I have to get my fish on soon for sure.

I believe your buddy fishes with a friend of mine from up here from time to time.

Snake, the crappie are going to be on fire at Truman in about two weeks. Some are doing well now but the big run needs a few more degrees warmer. We'll do some crappie fishing but going mostly snagging.

I'm thinking if a guy lasts until the 11th, he might be okay. Looks like the weather is gonna change next week.

I sure hope so. This weekend our youth turkey hunter is going to have a cold wet one. Plus the birds haven't been real active here yet.

Truman Lake is still a ways off from the big push of crappie to shallow waters- current surface temp is around 46 degrees. I know they are catching them in Truman but they have to still be hovering over depths of 20 feet of water or so. If the rain and snow we've been getting keeps up then rising water in the lake may make finding them tough; however I bet fishing below the dam will be fantastic.

TH, if they run water its usually real good below the dam. I hope they move in by the end of the month when we get down there. We split the time between snagging on LOZ and crappie fishing on Truman. If you hear anything about them moving up let me know.
