Bagnell Dam was fun

Post by DH_72 » June 3rd, 2004, 3:48 pm

Went there this morning and shot 8 gar. Biggest was around 35 inches. Missed a bunch too though. Missed around 10 till I figured out how to aim without sights. After I figured it out, I hardly missed at all. Never saw anything else close enough to shoot. Was hoping some carp or buffalo would come by, but they never did.

You got one of those boats with the highrise stand on it ? Was a few years back, I was up there and someone was in a jon with about a 4' stand, I presume was welded, on the front bow of the boat. For me, I'da made the boat to top heavy for a setup like that.

Did you shoot those off from the bank? Are you hooked yet? Sounds like a good time. You need to get a trip in a boat rigged up, then you will see just how much fun it really can be.

I was shooting from the bank. Don't have a boat and don't know of anybody that would let me use their boat. I'd love to fish from a boat that has a stand rigged up on it. Those look like they would be fun to shoot out of. I needed a boat this morning. You could see huge schools of carp about 40 yards from the bank. And yes, I am definitely hooked. Will post pictures as soon as I get them developed.

Cool. Maybe you can meet me out there to take a ride. I usually try to shoot it once or twice a year. Can you do it on Fridays?

Sounds good Robin. Ya I can do it on Fridays. I'd just have to tell work I'd need that day off.

I'm curious-- Was anybody catching any fish on rod and reel? Any white bass, hybrids or crappie taken from the bank?

All I saw caught on rod and reel were a couple of largemouth's and small whites.
